Final Triptych. What do you see?
My final triptych ended up being a variation of my ”popeyes chicken and biscuits” triptych. The image features two square images, a chicken with white and black print on it to the left, and a pile of biscuits with black type to the right. In the middle there is an image that is bigger than both of the ones surrounding it. The images are set on a bright background and should be read from the outside in (it does not matter if you start at the left or right side).
The first image is of a chicken with the ingredients of Popeye’s fried chicken listed in a vertical manner. The Image to the far left is of multiple biscuits with the ingredients of Popeye’s biscuits listed vertically inside the photo. The middle image is of an obese individual eating fried chicken with the word “Mmmmmm” inside, meant to symbolize that the person is enjoying their food. The words inside the chicken and biscuits are ingredients that sound confusing and unfamiliar. The triptych is meant to symbolize that these food contain ingredients that we do not even recognize and can make you obese if you eat them.
Trippy-tych
All of my triptych images all utilize the Gestalt principle of similarity because each as a separate unit holds its own meaning or representation but together they represent one idea.

Image #1: Angel wings, runway, woman in bra.
Individually each image represents something different and is linked to a different idea in everyones mind but together they represent the idea of the famous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Image #2: Chicken, biscuits, Popeye.
Together the images represent the idea of the local fast food chain Popeyes chicken.
Image #3: Graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars.
Together these images represent a s’mores. The fire background ties the images together even further representing the element of heat added to the three elements. S’mores and fire go hand in hand.
Self portrait do-over
Since my first attempt at creating an iconic self portrait didn’t go as well as planned I decided I would try and redeem myself with this one. This photo could easily be converted into the
header of my blog. The postcard from Texas is meant to represent my hometown and the New Orleans postcard is meant to represent my current city. To show that I lived in Texas in the past the TX postcard is much smaller than the LA one. The TX postcard is also slightly overlapped by the LA postcard, as if to show that I was looking at the LA one more recently.
Hope you like it!

Mardi Gras Season Begins..
This weekend kicked off the 2012 Mardi Gras season with back to back events that left the quarter in chaos, the infamous Krewe De Vieux parade followed by the Super Bowl XLVI (NY Giant vs. New England Patriots). The class of ’09 was lucky enough to begin our freshmen year in a city of Superbowl champs, and the energy of the Who Dat Nation has yet to die down since the epic win. Sad to see another superbowl pass by without or loved Saints playing in it, although this city definitely has enough will power alone to bring the team back.
For those as excited for Mardi Gras as I am, and those first-timers as well, here is the link to the Mardi Gras parade schedule. Get ready.
